Winnie the Pooh has wonderful wisdom. I do wonder if brunch is a carb? My phys ed background and hockey coaching leave me wondering.

Confidence

It is a sad time. My mother passed away yesterday. She was 90 and was very fragile physically. As I thought about it, I realized that, as a devout Catholic, my mother might have wished this at this time of the year. She told us that Easter was the most important feast in the Catholic calendar and full of symbolism. It is and it helps me overcome.

Four Principles to live by….

The post begins with a great Mary Oliver quote. The wisdom in the quote and the four principles are important for us to embrace. The world is a place of miracles and lessons that teach us when we are awake.

Define war? How do you teach a child. Why men are killed in war?

This is an incredibly powerful post with great questions as its opening. It would be wonderful to see the world through the eyes of children.

Memorial poetry

I stopped by the nearby location for the Memorial day celebration. There had a flag for every Soldier killed in the new wars.  I took my grandsons with me. This time with each flag was a photo of each soldier and where he was killed.

I found my three friends I served with. I stood by one of my friend photo lost in Iraq and I wanted to fall down with sadness. A older man came up and tapped my shoulder and told me. This is a sad place. I’m a Vietnam Vet from Holly, Michigan. I wanted to show respect to my brothers lost to war. I told him. I have three good friends here and I had to visit them. He saw…

In Flight: Blogging Northern Michigan

I posted this poem by Mary Oliver several days ago, but her poetry is always so inspiring. The world goes on and we have a place in the family of things.

today was good. today was fun. tomorrow is another one. – dr. seuss

I presented today at a small symposium and used Dr. Seuss as one of leadership and research references. He had such a way with words. Tomorrow is another one.

Encouragement

I had the opportunity to hear some of John O”Donohue’s poems read by David Whyte who was a friend. It was wonderful and inspiritional. It seems everything O’Donohue wrote took the form of a blessing.

Growing Love

Here are a wonderful image, a beautiful poem, and a Rumi quote to enjoy. There are words that speak only in silence.

Squireles in the snow.

These are incredible pictures. The photographer was patient to get all these wonderful and humourous photos. Fact is sometimes better than fiction. Without photoshopping, these images point to the innate curiousity and desire animals have for fun.

Monday Musings: Elsewhere

The short Rumi verse is accompanied by a wonderful picture. The trees blend with the sky and clouds.
