Native American Marriage Blessing

Today is our wedding anniversary. Kathy and have been a couple for over 40 years and, when I saw this post, it seemed most appropriate. She has been my anchor in life and has supported me in all my efforts. When we married 38 years ago, I did not envision the way it would turn out and that I would be able to leave one profession, as a banker, to pursue teaching and beyond. Sometimes, we are blessed without understanding it in the moment.

Professions for Peace

There may be controversy over which tribe originated this writing, but all I know is that my husband and I found this beautiful poetry and adored the wise sentiment, so we included it in our wedding ceremony. Thank you to the unknown author(s). May these wise words bring inspiration to us all. Namaste.

About ivonprefontaine

I completed a PhD at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. Previously, I taught for 20 years and spent the last 14 years teaching in an incrediable hybrid school setting. My dissertation topic and research were how teachers experience becoming who teachers, as human subjects. For me, teaching is a calling and vocation that allows me to express who I am as a person. Currently, I am waiting and listening to what will call me. We have begun a small consulting and leadership firm called Rocky River Leadership & Consulting Ltd.
