I have a poster with this quote on it hanging in my classroom. Several years ago, a student asked who the man in the poster was. Without hesitation, I replied, “My Dad.” Another student said there was no way that was my dad. I told them to look at the wild hair, facial foliage, and think of the eccentric behaviours. They agreed it could be my dad. Another student pointed out Einstein’s name on the poster, but 5 years later we still refer to Einstein as Mr. P.’s other Dad. Have a good day.

In keeping with bell hooks and Noam Chomsky, I consider myself a public and dissident intellectual. Part of my work is to move beyond (transcend) institutional dogmas that bind me to defend freedom, raising my voice to be heard on behalf of those who seek equity and justice in all their forms. I completed my PhD in Philosophy of Leadership Studies at Gonzaga University, Spokane, WA. My dissertation and research was how teachers experience becoming teachers and their role as leaders. I focus on leading, communicating, and innovating in organizations. This includes mindfuful servant-leadership, World Cafe events, Appreciative Inquiry, and expressing one's self through creativity. I offer retreats, workshops, and presentations that can be tailored to your organzations specific needs. I published peer reviewed articles about schools as learning organizations, currere as an ethical pursuit, and hope as an essential element of adult eductaion. I published three poems and am currently preparing my poetry to publish as an anthology of poetry. I present on mindful leadership, servant leadership, schools as learning organizations, how teachers experience becoming teachers, assessement, and critical thinking. I facilitate mindfulness, hospitality retreats. and World Cafe Events using Appreciative Inquiry. I am writing and researching about various forms of leadership, how teachers inform and form their identity as a particular teacher, schools as learning organizations, hope, nonviolence and its anticipatory relationship with the future, as essential elements to teaching and learning. It was filled with much love. We built kites at school and the students were really engaged.
I appreciate the comment about my name and thank you in many ways Joe for this lovely set of comments.
Ivon ~ I love this poster as well!
It is a great one.
Einstein is a member of my celestial bar crowd in Spirited Remix. My Dad was a theoretical physicist, and loved Al, as well. If I presume to call him such; and I once read an excellent book called: Einstein’s Daughter: the search for Lieserl..http://www.amazon.com/Einsteins-Daughter-The-Search-Lieserl/dp/1573221279 (it was fun, somewhat scientific, and not too highbrow in that respect.) Thank you for sharing–it spurred me to do the same! 🙂
I appreciate the share. I always enjoy Einstein quotes. He found a way to build a bridge between science and spirituality with his wisdom. And, he had a great sense of humour.
Very Nice post. As you said Einstein It is Great that the Scientist Einstein Esq. had analysed the scientific data in terms of philosophy and Spirituality.
‘Intelligence’ is complicated. It is not straightforward and we should consider very carefully how we even use the word “intelligence” when we really think about it. Intelligence is not singular.
Your last sentence hits the nail on the head. We treat intelligence as singular when it is radically plural. Thank you for a great point Lvsrao.
Unfortunately the blog in question is no longer available as it is suspended.
That is too bad. I just double-checked and it is still not back up. Sometimes they allow them to come back after some negotiating.
