Silence is the silence of God. We need the quiet to bring out the real in our lives. It is a time to listen to the “inner teacher” and draw from its deep pool of wisdom.
“Silence is the language of god,
all else is poor translation.”
― Rumi
I am constantly travelling in a time machine from one phase of life to another. No I don’t have a time machine but my mind is a good enough medium to make this wish true. I am either in my past, dwelling over something or in the future, fantasizing about things. Yes, I enjoy the present, but never completely.
My parents always taught me that my mind is superior. It should control my body. But mind is a part of our body, it was never meant to control our body. They co-exist to fulfill their parts. They are mistaken to be two different entities but they are two parts of the same energy.
Why can’t we stop these thoughts?
We are highly unsatisfied. Ask the Queen of England, she missed peace of mind, Ask the shopkeeper, he…

Thank you Jalal and you are welcome.
How interesting that you quoted RUMI, a very famous Persian poet. In fact I wrote my thesis on him. He was born in Eastern Persia. When he was only nine years old, Mongols attacked Persia. Their savagery has been recorded in history books. Not only they burned all the books, burned all cultural centers of Persia and libraries, they even killed another very famous Persian poet, named ATTAR (means druggist). At the time Jalaledin molavi Rumi was only nine years old. His father and he traveled to today’s turkey and settled there. Turkey at the time was part of Eastern Roman Empire. That is how he got his surname “RUMI” which means from Rome. But he would remain Persian and wrote all his magnificent poems in Persian (Iranian) language. Maybe one of these days I translate one of his poem and publish it in Word Press.
Beside this short history lesson which I am not sure if it is proper or not, I enjoyed reading your reblog tremendously.
I love Rumi.. Given you have done your thesis on him, can you suggest one good book to read his works?
I have the Book of Love, Swallowing the Sun and the Essential Rumi. Another one is the Mystical Rumi which I don’t have but many of the poems used by other authors use that one. I hope that helps a bit Tanushree.
Thank you so much for the help 🙂
So good to hear that people are interested In Rumi’s works. I read his works both in Persian and English Language. One of the best translation of his works is by Nicholson and it is his MASVAVY (It is one of many style of writing poetry in Persian poetry). It is in four volumes, and it can easily be found in bookstores or by ordering form Amazon.
Thank you for adding to the conversation with your great depth of knowledge.
Thank you for your knowledge of knowing so much about Eastern Philosophy and poetry, Mysticism, Sufism, etc, etc…
You are welcome.
Thanks for the tip! I will definitely get it!
I enjoyed learning more about this wonderful poet and mystic. I knew he was Persian, but much of the information above is new to me. A number of my favourite authors cite his work i.e. Parker Palmer, Thomas Merton, Marianne Williamson, etc.
We can exchange notes about Jalaledin Molavi Rumi if you want. I know a lot about him…
